Mayuko Kamio and Hibiki Tamura Win Hotel Okura Music Awards
The violinist Mayuko Kamio and the pianist Hibiki Tamura (artists on file at this Web site) were named as recipients of the tenth Hotel Okura Music Awards. The awards will be formally presented and a commemorative concert held in the lobby of the Hotel Okura in Tokyo on March 25, 2009, starting at 18:00.

These awards were established in 1996 as one of the artistic and cultural programs sponsored by the Hotel Okura, one of Tokyo's venerable landmarks. Their objective is to assist in the development of promising musicians who have amply demonstrated their talent in recent years.

Mayuko Kamio was the first prize winner in the violin section of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2007. In the same year, Hibiki Tamura won the Long-Thibaud International Piano Competition. They are both promising young artists who are expected to perform on a world wide scale from now on.
