Music fans associate the "Tokyo Summer Festivals" as events having original themes that are developed in interesting ways. This year's festival (number 24), to be held July 3-31, is subtitled, Forest Echoes / Desert Voices." It will present the great Brazilian guitarist and pianist Egberto Gismonti, music artists from the Amazononian indigenous Karajá and Saharan Tuareg cultures and a performance by the Miyazaki Prefecture Morotsuka-mura Toshita District Kagura Preservation Association.
A gala concert to be held on the final day of the concert will present performances by artists previously featured in new artist or young artist concerts and the winner of the 2007 Arion Award. In addition, listeners will have the rare treat of performances by specially formed ensembles of top Japanese artists. Many artists whose profiles appear on this site will be making many appearances:
Tamaki Kawakubo,
Dogen Kinowaki,
Sumire Kudo,
Ken-ichi Nakagawa, and
Naoko Yoshino. A concert not to be missed!
