The 14th OKIDEN SUGARHALL AUDITION FOR DEBUT CONCERT
The OKIDEN SUGARHALL AUDITION FOR DEBUT CONCERT was begun in 1994 to commemorate the opening of Sugarhall, which has been specifically designed as a music hall. The annual competition is organized by Nanjo City, Okinawa Prefecture; the Okinawa Electric Power Co., Inc.; and the Okinawa Times.
This competition is organized with the objective of (1) discovering and developing young, promising, and talented musicians and (2) contributing to the promotion of the musical culture in the regional and international cultural exchange.
Sections:
The Competition is divided into the following five sections.
Vocal Music, Piano, Stringed Instruments, Wind Instruments and Percussion Instruments

* Applications that arrive after the closing date will not be considered.
Dates:
Competition Saturday, March 29, 2008 Judging begins at 3 p.m.
Vocal Music, Piano
Sunday , March 30, 2008 Judging begins at 10 a.m.
Stringed Instruments, Wind Instruments, and Percussion Instruments
Debut Concert Sunday, May 18, 2008 Concert begins at 3 p.m.
Applicant Requirements:
(1) The Competition is open to musicians of any nationality
(2) Age Limit
Vocal Music:
Born on or after April 2, 1978 and no later than April 1, 1988
Piano and Stringed Instruments:
Born on or after April 2, 1982 and no later than April 1, 1990
Wind Instruments and Percussion Instruments:
Born on or after April 2, 1980 and no later than April 1, 1988
* Those who have won other international or national competitions in the past should not enter this competition
Duration of the Performance:
Vocal Music: No more than 10 minutes
Piano: No more than 20 minutes
Stringed Instruments: No more than 15 minutes
Wind Instruments and Percussion Instruments: No more than 15 minutes
