Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, known for its Takemitsu Memorial, celebrated its 10th anniversary on September 10th.
Over 1000 guests attended the reception and enjoyed a concert, held in cooperation with the Nippon Foundation, in which Ms. Sayaka Shoji and Mr. Shunsuke Sato performed a violin duo.
With its wood walls and excellent acoustics, Tokyo Opera City is one of Tokyo's foremost classic concert halls, hosting more than 500 concerts every year. It has a 1,632-seat main concert hall and a 286-seat recital hall. It is also known for its Art Gallery, the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award and a Recital Series featuring talented young artists performing works ranging from Bach to contemporary pieces.
Expectations are high for the venue's second decade of activities.
