Toshiyuki Kamioka Receives Akio Watanabe Foundation Music Award
Conductor Toshiyuki Kamioka has been named the 15th recipient of the Akio Watanabe Music Foundation award for 2007. Mr. Kamioka has become a highly recognizable presence in Germany, where he is conducting more than twenty of that country's orchestras. He has been music director for the city of Wuppertal in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia since the 2004/05 season. In Japan, where he is considered today's most promising young conductor, he has won extensive praise for a very distinctive and emotionally driven musical style as a guest conductor for the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra and the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
