The 3rd Sendai International Music Competition -Final Results of the Violin Section-
The Violin Section's Final Round of the 3rd Sendai International Music Competition was held on June 1 and 2 at the Sendai City Youth Cultural Center in Sendai, Japan. Ms. Alena Baeva of Russia has received the first prize.
The Sendai International Music Competition started in 2001 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Sendai City. The Competition, which is held every three years, aims to boost the careers of talented young musicians, thereby contributing to the promotion of music and international exchange among cultures. The Competition has a new and unique aspect of focusing on the concertos in the selection of the repertoire; at the same time, it is highly reliable with an authentic management in accordance with the recommended rules by the World Federation of International Music Competitions, and is designed to involve the warm support and hospitality of the local citizens.

Engagements for the First Prizewinner
(1) A minimum of three concert appearances (including Prizewinners' Gala Concert) with the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra and other major Japanese orchestras in Japan by the end of December 2010.
(2) Recitals in Sendai and other cities until the end of December 2010.
(3) The production of a CD that includes one of their performances in the Competition.
Alena Baeva plays Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D major at the final of the competition.
