Hiroko Nakamura (Pianist) Plays All Beethoven Piano Concertos

Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is called “Classic Music Hall of Fame”. Orchestra Concert Series titled “Hibiki No Mori”, sponsored by Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, is being held in this hall to introduce classic music to more people and to provide opportunities for them to familiarize themselves with classic music.

The concert this time will be Vol. 23. At this concert, a unique and magnificent idea of the Music Director, Mr. Naoto Otomo, to have Ms. Hiroko Nakamura, who is one of the pianists well known internationally, to play all 5 Beethoven Piano Concertos in one day will be realized.

Ms. Hiroko Nakamura has been very active giving performances and doing recordings in Japan and abroad, as well as holding prominent positions as a judge for international competitions. It is not an exaggeration to say that she is right in the middle of modern piano history. She is truly an internationally active artist committing herself to contributing to the future piano world, and by extension, to the future classic music world, by discovering many promising young pianists and supporting them.

Engaged in fulfilling activities as a pianist, musician and an artist, she will challenge, for the first time, to play all the Beethoven Piano Concertos, from No. 1 to No. 5, “Emperor”, all in one day. It will be a much-awaited, special concert for her and for the audience.
Joint Performace with Naoto Otomo and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra
The conductor for this concert is Mr. Naoto Otomo, who originally come up with this idea. Also having experienced performing with Ms. Hiroko Nakamura many times, he is certainly the most appropriate conductor for this concert.
It is very rare for a local orchestra to be taking part in this kind of concert. Thus, this concert is also challenging for Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of the resident conductor, Mr. James De Priest, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra has a reputation for its high quality performance, and joint performance of this Orchestra is guaranteed to be a concert of high quality.
Marathon Concert of 5 Hours and 15 Minutes
Because all the concertos will be played, this concert has the volume of 2 concerts, however, the audience is sure to get not 2 times more, but 5 times more, or even 10 times more satisfaction out of it. Tokyo Bunka Kaikan would like to share this special moment with as many people as possible.
