Conductor Eiji Oue was presented with the 5th Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award in a ceremony held on December 12 in Tokyo. Mr. Oue's profile appears on this website.

This annual award, recognizing talented conductors and young cellists, was established by Sony Music Foundation in 2002 on an endowment from the late wife of cellist, conductor and educator, Hideo Saito (1902-1974).
The award was not presented to a cellist this year.

Selection committee members for this award are Seiji Ozawa (conductor) ,Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (cellist) and Norio Ohga (conductor, executive adviser of Sony Corporation and chairman of the Board of Sony Music Foundation),.
