[Conductor Chikara Imamura to appear at the regular series of the Warsaw Phil and the National Kraków Phil!]
Chikara Imamura
Chikara Imamura
Chikara Imamura, who has been the conductor at the Polish National Opera since 2001, will appear at the opening concert on March 2, 2007 at the 10th Lutoslawski Forum, organized by the Warsaw Philharmonic. The reputable Chopin Academy Orchestra will perform for the concert on behalf of the Warsaw Philharmonic who will be on a tour in the United States during that time.
Imamura also will conduct the regular concert of the National Kraków Philharmonic on February 9th and 10th 2007. The Krakow Philharmonic is one of the prestigious orchestras in Europe, where Hans Swarowsky was the first conductor and was succeeded by his brother, Hindemith Swarowsky. At present, Jan Krenz serves as the music director for the orchestra. Imamura will appear as the guest conductor following week after Skrowaczewski, who is the regular conductor at the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra.
The collaboration between Imamura and the Polish National Opera is also working very well, and their next performances are planned on May 12th and June 24th 2007 with Puccini's 'Madama Butterfly'.
Last April, Imamura also made a great success in conducting Sinfonia Varsovia, one of the best Polish orchestras, for its memorial concert for the late John Paul II in Germany.
[ Recent Reviews of Imamaura in Europe ]
When Imamura conducts, who put highly inspirational concentration into his performance, the artistic quality reaches its highest.
(April 12, 2005 Neue Rhein Zeitung)

Mendelssohn's 4th Symphony 'Italian' showed its perfection. When the fascinating artistic pieces were finished performing, the atmosphere of the hall felt almost sublimed, which owed to the genuine quality of the Japanese guest conductor, Chikara Imamura. He left pleasant impact on us through the concert.
(April 11, 2005 Stade Daily Report)

Chikara Imamura gave at that night exquisitely beautiful, melancholic songs with deep temptation, mystery, and inspiration (Schubert's Unfinished). I have never experienced such 'complete' performance of the first movement which captured the audience's hearts so sincerely.
It was one of the exceptionally superb performances even when we look at hundreds of recordings by the great conductors in the 20th century.
