Japanese Pianist Yu Kosuge is scheduled to make her first appearance at the prestigious Salzburg Festival this year in the form of a full recital. Ms. Kosuge, who lives in Salzburg, will have the double honor of performing Mozart sonatas on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth and giving the world premiere performance of a piece composed specifically for her by Akira Nishimura.
Last year, Ms. Kosuge performed her first self-sponsored recital in Japan, published her first book, "Impassioned Cadenza" (in Japanese), toured Japan with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Sakari Oramo) and gave her debut recital at Carnegie Hall in New York. She is scheduled to perform in recital at Kioi Hall in May, 2007.
