The 8th International Oboe Competition of Karuizawa (Application deadline: April 17)

 Sony Music Foundation announced the required repertoire for the 8th International Oboe Competition of Karuizawa. This competition was formally known as “International Oboe Competition of Tokyo”. Starting with their 8th year, competition venue will be relocated to Karuizawa (Nagano, Japan), and thus renamed “International Oboe Competition of Karuizawa”.

 Submissions for preliminary screening (tape audition) will be accepted between March 9 and April 17, 2006. First and second stages begin on October 14. Final stage to be held at Karuizawa Ohga Hall on October 22.
 Jury members: Hansjörg Schellenberger (chair), Maurice Bourgue, Ken-ichi Furube, Gordon Hunt, Kouzou Kakizaki, Alex Klein, Yoshiaki Obata.
Required Repertoire
♦Preliminary Screening (tape audition) [Submission Period: March 9, 2006 ­ April 17]
The following two pieces should be completely performed and recorded.
  
1)G.Ph. Telemann
2)Clara Schumann
from 12 Fantasies for Flute (Oboe) Solo: No. 12
from 3 Romanzen for Violin (Oboe) and Piano, Op.22: No. 3
•Submit recordings on CD, MD and DAT only. Recordings on cassette tape or video tape will not be accepted.

♦First Stage       The following two pieces should be performed;
Choose one from the following pieces;
1)
a) J.S. Bach
b) F. Couperin
Sonata in G Minor, BWV 1030b
Concert Royale Nr.3 (Ed.Fuzeau)
Choose one from the following pieces;
2)
a) R. Schumann
b) R. Schumann
c) R. Schumann
Adagio and Allegro, Op. 70
3 Romanzen, Op.94
5 Stücke im Volkston, Op.102, No.2,3,4

♦Second Stage       The following two pieces should be performed;
1)
R. Strauss
Oboe Concerto
Choose one from the following pieces;
2)
a) H. Holliger
b) A. Dorati
c) Isang Yun
Sonata for Oboe Solo (2001)
Cinq Pieces pour Hautbois Solo
"Piri" for Oboe Solo

♦Final Stage       The following two pieces should be performed;
1)
W.A. Mozart
Concerto for Oboe K.314(285d) (Bärenreiter or Henle-Editions) (with orchestra accompaniment)
2)
T. Takemitsu
"Entre-Temps" for Oboe and String-Quartet (with string quartet)
