Our recent public request for recommendations of artists' names or direct applications from artists for inclusion on this site resulted in our receipt of 54 candidates. Since we had only been planning to make 15 new additions, it turned out to be a stiff competition, even though we did ultimately pick 20 artists. We had to overlook many types of very talented artists, including those already well known internationally, those whose main occupation is teaching and also young artists who are promising, but should be allowed more time to show what they can do.
