The second concert in the "Your choice! NEC Gala Concert" series was
held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall before a very enthusiastic audience.
One of NEC Corporation's public service programs, the gala concerts are planned according to an innovative concept of enlisting music fans to vote online for participating artists and their preferences among the repertoires submitted by the artists. The participating artists were among this site’s catalog of classical music artists. This year’s concert featured the six artists among ten entrants who received the most votes.
Both the sponsors and the planners are hoping that this initiative will bring a new perspective to counter the orthodoxy that tends to dominate classical concerts, while serving as a means to make step-by-step improvements in the way concerts are organized.
Following are the performances from the concert. The only thing these six artists' have in common is work that is uniquely their own and infused with energy that speaks eloquently to audiences. Enjoy!
