Mariko Anraku has been associate principal harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra since 1995.She is also an active soloist and chamber musician.Since her debut with the Toronto Symphony conducted by Andrew Davis, she has performed with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic and the Yomiuri Symphony among others.As a recitalist, she has been heard at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Bing Theater at the LA County Museum, the Opéra Comique in Paris, the Palazzo dell'Esposizioni in Rome and the Casals, Kioi and Oji Halls in Tokyo.Ms. Anraku is an exclusive recording artist with EMI Classics.Her newest CD, "Beau Soir" is a collaboration with eminent flutist Emmanuel Pahud and has been releasedworldwide recently, along with a new solo compilation CD on the EMI Encore series.Ms. Anraku holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the Juilliard School and studied with Nancy Allen, Judy Loman and Kumiko Inoue. She also studied oriental art history at Tokyo's Sophia University. She performs community service concerts at hospitals, drug rehabilitation centers etc. regularly.
