A native of Tokyo, Japan, baritone Teruhiko Komori holds both Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He went to Berlin for his further study. He was awarded a New Opera Singer Award from The Gotoh Memorial Foundation. He sings in Europe and Japan. He made Europe debut as Germont in Staatsoper Prag in 1999. After that he sang Germont again there, he was given high praises from audience. He has been the first baritone for the last six years under contract to Theater Altenburg Gera. He made debut there as Title-Role in Rigoletto. He performed there as Titie-Role in Don Giovanni, Fritz and Frank in Die tote Stadt, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor, as Title-Role in Der fliegende Holländer, Title-Role in Nabucco, Glaf Almaviva in Le nozze Figaro, Germont in La Traviata, Würfl in Die Ausflüge des Herrn Broucek, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte and so on. All his performances were critically acclaimed. In Tokyo he performed as Jochanaan in Salome, Ein Musiklehrer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Falke in Die Feldermaus, Robert in Intermezzo and so on. In 2005 he sang as Simone in Eine Florentinische Tragödie at Nikikai Opera, he was given high praises from both critics and audience. He has also been a popular recitalist in recent years. He made a great success in Schumann Liederabend in Germany in May 2005. In August 2005 he sung Dichterliebe in Tokyo. He is a member of Nikikai.
