Born in 1978, in Miyazaki Pref., Japan. Started playing the guitar at the age of 8, and went to take Shinichi Fukuda as his guitar teacher. At the age of 19, he flew to France to study at the Ecole Nomale de Musique de Paris, and moved to the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris for further study. In 1998, he won the 2nd prize at the Havana International Guitar Contest and also won the Jury’s Special Award (the Leo Brouwer Award). In September, 2000, he made his debut album “UN DIA DE NOVIEMBRE” with Victor Entertainment. In 2002, he moved to Siena, Italy, to study under Oscar Ghiglia at the Chigiana Musical Academy. While studying there for four years, he finished each year with the best diploma. At the time, he played a concert at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., which was broadcasted live via internet worldwide. In 2004, he won the Hotel Okura Music Award. In 2005, he was invited to the international music fair “Cubadisco 2005” as the first Japanese guitarist, and played Concerto de Aranjues with the Cuban National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Senaida Romeu. His performance was highly acclaimed, which led him to another invitation to the Conpensar Guitar Festival in Bogota, Columbia. He also performed in Seoul, Korea, which was a huge success. So far, he has made 9 albums on CD and 2 DVDs, and has been expanding his career successfully both domestically and internationally. He has been highly acclaimed as a guitar player for chamber music as well as a soloist for concertos. His repertoire varies from classical Renaissance to contemporary music. To prove his musical versatility, he has collaborated with various talented musicians and appeared on TV and radio shows. He will soon be introduced to Taiwan in 2008. |
