Profile
 Junichi Hirokami has since worked with all the major Japanese orchestras and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra invited him to become their Permanent Guest Conductor from 1995. From 1997/98 he has held two positions in Europe -he is the Chief Conductor of the Limburg Symphony Orchestra which is in Maastricht, Holland and the Principal Guest Conductor of the royal Liverpool philharmonic Orchestra. His career began in September 1984 when he won the first Kondrashin International Conducting a concert in the Concertgebouw. Since 1990 he has conducted many famous orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic (more then 70 concerts with them), the Concertgebouw, the Oslo and Stockholm Philharmonics, London Symphony, The London Philharmonic, The Philharmonia,Cincinnati Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pittsburgh, the Vienna symphony, major orchestra in Barcelona, Berlin, Helsinki, Lisbon, Madrid, Milano and Roma. From 1988 to 1995 he had apposition with the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra in Sweden as the Guest Conductor until 1990 and subsequently the Chief Conductor. In 1992 he started recording with the Norrkoping Orchestra for the Swedish label BIS and the new Japanese label "Fun House". Autumn 1994 saw two distinguished events for the Norrkoping Orchestra -the opening of a new Concert Hall which has been built for them, and their first tour outside Europe -a major concert tour of Japan with 12 concerts -arranged by Hirokami.He has made major recordings with the Royal Philharmonic Orechestra (which he has conducted many times) for Denon (the largest Japanese record company) including a highly praised Mahler Symphony 4 and Berlioz Symphony Fantastique.In 1989, he made his operatic debut in a new production of Verdi's UN BALLO IN MASCHERA with the Australian Opera in Sydney. He was immediately re-invited to conduct RIGOLETTO in BUTTERFLY and TOSCA in England and a new production of MACBETH in Holland in 1999. He conducted LA BOHEME and DON PASQUALE in 2000.
