Born in Tokyo, Japan. Kaeko Mukoyama studied violoncello under Keiko Matsunami, Yasushi Horie, Hakuro Mouri and Reine Flachot. She won the 1st prize in the 54th Japan Music Competition in 1985. In 1990, she studied under David Geringas at the Lubeck National Music University and won the 1st prize in the 10th Gaspar Cassado international cello competition. She was highly commended when she performed with NHK Symphony Orchestra in 1992.
She has been performing with world's top artists and orchestras such as Janos Starker, David Geringas, Issac Stern, Josef Suk, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, etc. Also she has been engaged with myriad activities as recitals, a planner for JT Art Hall Chamber Music Series, and in 1998 she hosted one of the most popular radio shows, Oshaberi Classic (apple butter classic), for NHK-FM radio.
Her highly acclaimed recordings of "Schubert : Arpeggione Sonata etc.", "GRACE", "Silent Woods", "White Landscapes", "J.S.Bach : Suites for Violoncello Solo, BWV1007-1012" are released from SONY Music Japan International. Also, She recorded the music for NHK TV program.
For 250th anniversary of Bach's death in the year of 2000, she made cycles of recital at Tokyo Opera City and recording of "Suites for Violoncello Solo" which became a big topic. She is a white hope as representative virtuoso cellist of Japan for further success. |
