Hatsumi Miura is resident organist at the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall in Japan, where she plays C.B.Fisk's Opus 110 organ. Educated at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she has studied with Tsuguo Hirono, Guy Bovet and with Yuko Hayashi at the New England Conservatory of Music. While completing her Artist's Diploma at the New England Conservatory in 1997, she acted as assistant to the organ faculty and as assistant organist at All Saints'Ashmont. In addition to the competitions she has won in Japan and Switzerland, Miura's performances in Denmark, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland and the United States have established her international reputation for imaginative, colorful performances and a brilliant technique. In Japan she has been invited to play solo recitals, as well as concertos with various symphony orchestras. She currently teaches organ at Ferris University in Yokohama, and is actively involved in educational programs such as organ workshops for children and internships for young organists in Japan.
