Mayuko Kamio made her concerto debut in Tokyo at the age of ten under the baton of Charles Dutoit, which was broadcasted on NHK television. In 1998, having captured a prize at the Menuhin International Violin Competition (The youngest ever to win the award), she performed with the Orchestra National de Lille under Lord Menuhin's baton. Since then, she has appeared as soloist with the Boston Pops, the Russian National Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic.
At the age of thirteen, Mayuko Kamio won First Prize in 2000 Young Concert Artists International Auditions in USA. In 2001, she was the youngest artist ever to be presented in the Young Concert Artists Series at the Kennedy Center. In 2004, Kamio was awarded the Gold Medal at the Monte Carlo Violin Masters and the International David Oistrakh Violin Competition in Ukraine. In 2007, she won the First Pirze at Tchaikovsky International Competition.
In 2004, She performed with BBC philhamornic under Gianandrea Noseda in Manchester, which was broadcast on BBC radio and then on to tour to Japan. In January 2005, she was invited by Lincoln Center in US and gave a recital to huge critical acclaim.
In 2007 season, she will appear as a soloist such with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra / Naoto Otomo, NHK Symphony Orchestra/ James Judd and Bayerische Staatsoper / Zubin Metha, as well as recitals in both home and abroad.
She studied at the Juilliard pre-college in the U.S with Dorothy Delay and Masao Kawasaki. After her returning to Japan, she was awarded a full-scholarship and became the first student to obtain it in the history of Toho Gakuen School of Music where she studied with Koichiro Harada. She is currently studying with Zakhar Bron in Zurich.
